happy friday friends! this week i’m back at it again with a list of my favorite songs that were released this week and a spotify playlist to go along with it. I usually stick to songs that I think are highly underrated and deserve more streams but this week I threw in a few of my favorite songs that were dropped by some popular artists this week as well.

and what a week it was! from Ariana Grande to Big Sean to Drake even dropping a whole collection of his music, we’ve been spoiled this week for sure. plus a few of my favorite artists are also returning to make another appearance in my playlist because I just couldn’t stay away. not all songs have captions because some are just good songs that I can’t describe without sounding repetitive or not doing them justice. I also categorized the music and hopefully each category should flow into the other nicely. so without further ado, here’s the best from the week of Friday August 2nd.

POPS AND BOPS

boyfriend (with social house): ariana grande

if you didn’t already know, I’m freaking obsessed with Ariana Grande and I pretty much love everything she puts out and this song was no exception. I also love social house and I saw them open for her this summer so I knew this collab was going to slap before I listened. I’ve pretty much been listening to this song on repeat since it dropped at midnight today. plus the music video is a whole masterpiece. this might be one of my faves from her ever.

fuck, i’m lonely (with anne-marie): lauv

THIS SONG. I’ve been listening to it nonstop since it came out and it’s also a big mood? this collab is everything. you just HAVE to listen to it.

money: miquela

freaking me out: ava max

I’m a huge fan of the lyrics of this song and it’s insanely catchy. the perfect pop song for adventurous summer nights.

serendipity: william bolton

rolling thunder: yoshi flower

INDIE & CHILL

if I can’t have you: navvy

this gives a lil bit of julia michaels vibes but I really like this song a lot.

jealous of birds: bre kennedy – slippin

you are now on fire: slow hollows

finch: penny and sparrow – long gone, hannah, it’s hysterical, gumshoe

this whole album gives off serious fall vibes. “it’s hysterical” is especially beautiful.

ya know em, ya love em. they have an album coming soon!

talking in circles: mosa wild – honey, smoke, tides

good summer: taura

a friend of both Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner, Taura dropped a simple new song full of her beautiful layered vocals to get us hyped for her new EP coming soon. get exciteddd.

ok ok?: half•alive

I’ve been obsessed with half•alive for a couple of weeks now and their new album comes out next week! every time they drop a new song I get more hyped for it. love the indie vibes and this trio’s voices.

july: noah cyrus

all the acoustic vibes with this one. I honestly haven’t really listened to noah cyrus’s discography but this song is so chill I might have to invest more. it reminds me of walking through a forest in fall even though it’s called july though….

summer girl: haim

I’m obsessed with this song. haim has returned in all of their glory and created a very chill summer night masterpiece and I’m here for it.

do you feel me?: oliver tree – miracle man, alien boy, hurt

love me again: raye

all mirrors: angel olsen

amy, run for the hills: courtship.

omm!: morgxn

alternative and catchy, morgxn doesn’t disappoint with this new tune.

sometimes love takes so long: illiterate light

love illiterate light. another bop to add to the surf n skate playlist as well as hype up their album coming soon! can’t wait.

bad as the boys: tove lo, ALMA

I was a huge fan of tove lo in 2014 but this song is less intense than those bops way back then, but in a good way. it’s more mellow and I’m a huge fan.

immunity: clairo – alewife, north, softly, white flag,

I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ALBUM FOR SO LONG AND IT’S FINALLY HERE. clairo’s voice is just perfect and her music is just so mellow and relaxing yet beautiful. tbh I want to put the whole album in this playlist because it’s a masterpiece but I restrained myself for your sake. but if you DO want to listen to it I’m sure you can find it.

NIGHTTIME VIBES

holding the gun: sabrina claudio

if you couldn’t already tell by now, I’m a huge fan of chill r&b songs with layer vocals and that’s what sabrina claudio does well with this song.

don’t count this song out of your next chill vibes playlist that’s for sure.

another summer night without you: Alexander 23

this song is actually a part of the newest season of 13 reasons why that comes out in mid to late august.

belladonna: armando young

released earlier this week, “belladonna” has allllll the vibes. it’s the perfect nighttime vibey song plus all the harmonies and layers to his voice sounds a little like a mix of chance the rapper and frank ocean? maybe it’s just me.
