Happy Friday! One of these being posted on a Friday? It’s a Valentine’s Day miracle. Speaking of Valentine’s Day, if you’re looking for some music to ~*vibe*~ to, I highly recommend this week’s playlist OR one of my genre playlists if you’re really looking for a specific consistent vibe.
But for now, I’ll leave you with the best songs released this week of Friday, February 14, 2020. New albums from Tame Impala, Justin Bieber, Beach Bunny, New Hope Club and a new music video from Yoshi Flower? Let’s get into it.
INDIE & CHILL
I Hate You So Much: Alexander 23
Ah the perfect Valentine’s Day vibe. Just kidding. Despite the title, Alexander 23’s newest song is about “being emotionally haunted by someone you desperately want to despise” and not being able to escape loving someone who’s no-good for you according to Alexander himself. A chilling vibe for your V-Day.
7 Days: Yoshi Flower
On the other hand, “7 Days” by Yoshi Flower (aka Josh Smith) is all about being obsessed with someone and thinking about them all the time. He straight up says, “You’re my everything/7 days a week.”
He just released a music video for his song that includes a quick editing style that matches the bounce of the song. The brief clips depict Smith doing daily mundane tasks like delivering newspapers, sitting alone at a party or seeing her toothbrush while brushing his teeth that have him thinking of the one he loves. You can check out the music video HERE. And if you’re really vibing with his music, he’s going on tour in March (tour dates at the bottom of the blog post) so be sure to check him out live!
Valentine: COIN
“You ever love something so much it hurts?” Yes. This song. Leave it to COIN to drop a song just for Valentine’s Day that they teased two years ago. Just a reminder to be all in in what you’re passionate about whether it be a person, career or goal. Oh and it’s another song that has me very excited for their new album.
2much: Spencer.
death bed (feat. beabadoboobee): Powfu, beabadoobee
Cold: Matt Simons
One of my favorite songs from this week’s releases.
Beauty Queen: WENS
Drive: Ryann
Eugene: Arlo Parks
Raleigh: Beulahbelle
Golf On TV feat. JP Saxe: Lennon Stella, JP Saxe
As someone who enjoys golf on TV, I felt partially attacked but I love both of these artists so it’s okay. I’ll take the slight disrespect for now…
Heaven: Sj, Katelyn Tarver
BRUISEBOY: Jean Dawson
Hold Out: Sam Fender
The Slow Rush: Tame Impala – Breathe Deeper, Tomorrow’s Dust, On Track, Is It True
When I tell you I’ve been waiting for this album for a long time, I’ve been waiting for this album for a long time. The whole thing is a masterpiece and the flow from each song to the next is amazing but because each song is pretty long, I only included my faves in this playlist. Feel free to check out the whole album yourself!
Sweet Tooth: Cavetown
Bang!: AJR
As a big fan of AJR, I’m pretty much obligated to say I’m a fan of this song. But trust me when I unbiasedly tell you that this song is really freaking good.
The Drama: Cailin Russo – Good Bad Decisions, No Time
Honeymoon: Beach Bunny – April, Colorblind, Racetrack
Beach Bunny finally dropped their album this week and it’s full of masterpieces. If you’re into indie and surf rock, this is the album for you. “Racetrack” is a simple, beautiful song with melancholy piano that’ll tug at anyone”s heartstrings.
POP N BOPS
New Hope Club: New Hope Club – Why Oh Why, Serious, You and I
If you’re into acoustic pop, then New Hope Club (the band and their new album) is perfect for you!
Do You Love Me: Stephanie Poetri
Questions to ask your crush on Valentine’s Day.
Reminds Me: Kim Petras
Honeymoon Fades: Sabrina Carpenter
Selfish: Madison Beer
Perhaps Madison really went off with this one.
No Time To Die: Billie Eilish
While listening to this song the first time I had no idea it was a track for the new James Bond movie. And while nothing will surpass “Skyfall” by our queen Adele, this song for the newest movie might come in a close second.
Oh My God: Alec Benjamin
To Die For: Sam Smith
Single and in your feels this Valentine’s Day? Sam Smith has got you covered with this new single.
ME BECAUSE OF YOU: HRVY
Changes: Justin Bieber – Habitual, Forever (feat. Post Malone & Clever), E.T.A., Changes, At Least For Now
I, like everyone else, was really looking forward to Justin’s return to the music scene with this new album. And maybe it’s just me but I feel like a lot of the songs sound the same? But as you progress through the album you get to the vocals we all love Justin perfectly paired with a guitar.
Being Human: Chaz Cardigan
This song will make you want to get up and dance.
Pink (Freak): Elliot Lee
ROCK ON
At The Door: The Strokes
If you’re a big fan of The Strokes original sound then be sure to check out this new song from their new album that’s being released in April.
Our House (The Mess We Made): You Me At Six
Who’s Gonna Love Me Now: Cold War Kids
Ohio: King Princess
YEE HAW
Born Here Live Here Die Here: Luke Bryan
Love You Like I Used To: Russell Dickerson
Till There’s Nothing Left: Cam
Finish Your Sentences: Carly Pearce, Michael Ray
RAP SNAP CRACKLE POP
Because of You: Kodak Black
Reasons: Fetty Wap
