kasual picks #42

Happy New Music Friday! Today’s post and playlist go up slightly later because I chose sleep this morning. Sorry not sorry. This week is full of new music and this week’s playlist is a must listen. But don’t just take my word for it! Check these songs out yourself and be sure to add them to your favorite playlists too. Looking for more playlists for almost every occasion? Well look no further because I’ve got you covered @ kasualkook on Spotify.

If you’re new here, I make weekly playlists where I pick my favorite songs from each week’s releases and I write some of my quick thoughts about them. I also curate a Spotify playlist to go along with them. I’m all about helping people find their new favorite artists and songs so if you have any suggestions let me know!

I also made an Instagram for all my music invested peeps so feel free to check it out @kasualpicks on Instagram. I’ll be sharing my favorites in each genre on that platform so feel free to check it out! On here, however, I’ll designate my top favorites with an asterisk “*”.

Here’s the best songs form the week of Friday, September 18, 2020. Find the playlist HERE.

INDIE & CHILL

*hiccup: Valley

My favorite song from this week.

*Everything Ends Up Ending: Laureline

*The Word: Alec Wigdahl

*You Are the Traffic: COIN

The Dreamland era is over. This week COIN (finally) brings us new music and we couldn’t be more grateful.

*Friend Like You: WILD

It’s cute. It’s catchy. It’s a guaranteed feel good song.

Falling: Phil Good

*Beyond the Pine: Tash Sultana

I highly recommend listening to this one on full volume to hear all of the different sounds that add to the melody of this song.

Agreeable: Cautious Clay

*Howl (feat. M.I.L.K.): SASO, M.I.L.K.

cowboy in LA: LANY

*Waves: Fiji Blue

*the car: Nightly

Nightly stays perfecting “late night driving music.”

Crocodile Tears (feat. Jens Hult): BUNT., Jens Hult

Is He Sleeping Now: Guytano

*Misguided: stockdale, eisenach

This collaboration between stockdale and eisenach is the perfect addition to your next playlist. Eisenach brings his beachy indie to the table which gives us big Surfaces vibes and is combined with stockade’s upbeat rap that flows effortlessly through the song.

POP AND BOPS

*Is It Just Me?: Sasha Sloan

“Am I just tired or am I kinda right?” This week Sasha Sloan once again brings us a chill bop with highly relatable lyrics that are too catchy for us to stop listening.

*It’s OK if You Forget Me: Astrid S

*Somebody I’m Proud Of: Sarah Barrios

NOW: Olivia O’Brien

*Colour Vision: MAX – Acid Dreams (with Felly), Blueberry Eyes (feat. SUGA of BTS), Checklist (feat. Chromeo),

MAX finally dropped his newest album and I love it. While it may not be a new unreleased track, I had to include “Acid Dreams” simply because it reminds me of one of my favorite humans. Shout out to Hadley for always hyping up and supporting my New Music Friday blog posts. Also I’m not the biggest K-Pop fan mainly because I don’t have much experience with it but THIS SONG. The song is bop.

Welcome Back (feat. Alessia Cara): Ali Gatie, Alessia Cara

Holy (feat. Chance the Rapper): Justin Bieber, Chance the Rapper

A chill quarantine bop, Justin and Chance team up to create a song that is your average chill pop song.

WhoWho: WizTheMc, Hugo

cat out the bag: contradash

Splinter (with salem ilese): MYRNE, salem ilese

ELECTRO DANCE + RAVEE SZN

*Freefall (feat. Oliver Tree): Whethan, Oliver Tree

I’m actually obsessed with this song. That is all.

*Gummy – Cheyenne Giles Remix: Loud Luxury, Brando, Cheyenne Giles

Hot Stuff: Kygo, Donna Summer

Once again Kygo reinvents another classic tune that many are obsessed with and makes it playable for all generations.

I don’t wanna talk about me – R3HAB Remix: Stereo Jane, R3HAB

Too Many Nights: 220 KID, JC Stewart

feelings (w/ Marlhy): pluko, Marlhy

seriously just stop – Loote Remix: somegirlnamedanna, Loote

Cry (with John Martin) – Nevada Remix: Gryffin, John Martin, Nevada

Nobody Like You (feat. Vera Blue) – Hermitude Remix: Louis the Child, Vera Blue, Hermitude

ROCK ON

Impossible: Nothing But Thieves

Before Our Time: Baby FuzZ, LP

Some pop punk for your Friday.

YEE HAW

THE SPEED OF NOW Part 1: Keith Urban – Out The Cage (with BRELAND, Nile Rodgers), One Too Many (with P!nk), Live With, Forever, With You

This album is the only new country release that matters this week. There are absolutely no skips. With excellent collaborations and genre-blending tracks, The Speed Of Now Part 1 might be one of Urban’s best albums to date.

Without You: Luke Combs, Amanda Shires

RAP SNAP CRACKLE POP

Back in Time (feat. Public Library Commute): Healy, Public Library Commute

R&viBe

All Our Time (feat. Jae Stephens): Xavier Omär, Jae Stephens

And that’s it! I hope you enjoy and find some of your new favorite songs and artists from this playlist because I know I have. Plus I hope you discover some tunes to fuel your quarantine activities and studying sessions! And wear your mask over your nose! The pandemic isn’t over just because you want it to be!
