Things We Should Care More About But Don’t

Hi! Hello! Hey what’s good? To all my new followers, hi hello I love you already. To all my old peeps, welcome back! I love you b**** I ain’t never gonna stop lovin’ you b****. That being said, let’s hop to it.

  1. Saving the Environment:

Earth Day just passed and have I really seen any changes been made? Not really. Now I love a great instagram and I’m all for cute pics of the beach or the mountains, but everyone bragging about how much they love the earth isn’t going to do a thing if we don’t change the way we act individually. Now I’m not going to sit here and tell you that everything I own is recyclable or made out of dirt or whatever, but it’s the LITTLE CHANGES PEOPLE. Take shorter showers! Use reusable water bottles! They’re cute and they save the environment. If you’re REALLY out here for that aesthetic, carry a glass mason jar around with a reusable metal straw. It doesn’t matter, just don’t use plastic!

Besides straws, another thing we could totally use less of to save the environment is q-tips! I don’t really know the reasoning behind why they exist considering we aren’t technically supposed to put anything in our ears buuuuut they aren’t really that necessary. So so so much plastic goes into the oceans every year and harms marine life and the little changes we make can do so much! Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Das it.

2. Ourselves

It’s mental health awareness month and if you have a twitter, you’ve probably seen all the tips and tweets about it on your timeline (if not, hmu on twitter. I retweet great things @kasual_kook #shamelessselfplug), but if not, ya gotta remember to take care of yourself! Work hard, achieve your goals, but don’t forget to appreciate yourself and how far you’ve come. Throw a bathbomb into your tub and just chiiiiiilll in the water. Take time to check in with yourself and just sit and enjoy being present and in the moment. Get into meditation. Get into yoga. Get into yourself.

3. All the good stuff

Bad things.

It’s a lot of bad things.

That they wishin’ and wishin’ and wishin’ and wishin’
They wishin’ on me.

Drake knows what’s good.

We tend to focus a lot on the bad things that happen to us. When someone asks what’s up or how we’ve been, we tend to focus on the negatives. We tend to focus on the things we don’t get instead of the opportunities and the things we’ve achieved. Like yeah you didn’t get that Oscar, but at least you were nominated with all those amazing people amiright? Start a bullet journal and write down the positives in your day. Make a list of things you’ve got to do and get that rush of happiness and excitement and accomplishment when you’ve checked off all your tasks. Anyone else relate? Just me? Okay. I see how it is.

And the same goes with people! We tend to focus on the snakes instead of all the gems we have in our lives! Like the kid who always gives you a piece of looseleaf when you run out or that girl who smiles at you in the hallway. Instead of focusing on that douche who didn’t text you back, appreciate the friends you do have who send you memes. Now that’s what I call true friendship.

4. Streaks!!!

Okay I don’t know about you guys, but ya girl loves a good Snapchat streak. Yes I know I’m weird but they make me happy okay? But this isn’t about the numbers next to the fire emoji, it’s about the fire people. (see what I did there :))

I have quite a lot of streaks but I even have some with people I haven’t actually had a real conversation with in MONTHS. Like yeah I send a streaks snap of whatever I’m doing and they send back a dark background and a red S, but I genuinely have no idea how they’re doing. And this isn’t just about Snapchat streaks, but also people in your everyday life. Friends, colleagues, coworkers, peers, and anyone around you, how often do you check in and ask how they really are? How often do you go beyond the “Hi how are you?” “Good” sitch?

Are they really good? Maybe they are, maybe they aren’t, but it’s up to you to really be there for your friends because you never know what someone is going through.

5. Upcoming artists and creators!

I cannot tell you how many tweets I saw in the days leading up to 2018 that were all like “2018 is going to be the year of supporting and appreciating upcoming artists and creators!!” but then January 1st hits and I saw none of that support happening up in here. And not to call anybody out buuuuuuuut, smh.

There are SOOOO many creative and talented people out there who are just not appreciated enough for their amazing work!

So next time you see some artwork on your timeline or see one of your friends promoting some of their content on their instagram/snapchat story, why not swipe up and check it out or retweet that ish? You never know when you’ll find your next favorite soundcloud rapper. (check out lil revan and Mars Playground on soundcloud for some fire songs) Support your friends, support their passions, support art.

And that’s it! Five little tid bits of things that I personally think we should all care about more but don’t! It’s been way too long blog, but now that it’s summer vacay for me, you can totally expect more quality posts and that’s always a good thing. 🙂

  1. Hello ,

I saw your tweet about animals and thought I will check your website. I like it!

I love pets. I have two beautiful thai cats called Tammy(female) and Yommo(male). Yommo is 1 year older than Tommy. He acts like a bigger brother for her. 🙂
I have even created an Instagram account for them ( https://www.instagram.com/tayo_home/ ) and probably soon they will have more followers than me (kinda funny).

I have subscribed to your newsletter. 🙂

Keep up the good work on your blog.

    Regards
