new music friday vol. 12

happy new music….tuesday? I know it’s crazy late I’m sorry. But it’s up now! Honestly the music from last week was pretty fire though. So many of my favorite artists released new music from Rex Orange County to Julia Michaels and even the golden trio of Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, and Lana Del Ray. Maybe I’m a little biased but this might be one of the best playlists I’ve made yet? Let’s just say it was worth the wait.

But without further ado, here’s my favorite tunes from last week’s releases and as always, there’s an accompanying Spotify playlist at the end of this post for you to listen on your own!

INDIE & CHILL

TV: Tidepools

10/10: Rex Orange County

I LOVE Rex Orange County and this song is just too catchy to not love. And they lyric “sometimes you gotta cut a b*tch out”? Pure art.

Easy on You: Claire Ernst

This song is not only a mood, but also super groovy.

Man of Weakness: Your Smith

Monster: Mark Diamond

Back to Life: Chiiild, Shungudzo

This song is suuuuch a vibe. Definitely one of my favorites from this week for sure.

Better With Time: 11:11

Black & Blue: Lost Frequencies, Mokita

blue skies: gabriel black

Leading Us Home: Sampa the Great

Lucky Strike: Berhana

Telescope: Cavetown

Breathe: 88rising, Joji, Don Krez

This collaboration is EVERYTHING.

@thebackoftheparty: push baby

Destroy Me: grandson

flying: Wrabel

If you haven’t been listening to Wrabel by now, you’re definitely missing out. His vocals combined with the catchy beat makes this song magical.

If You Need Me: Julia Michaels

waste my time: Silver Sphere

Free Time: Ruel

I love Ruel and I’m a fan of his more upbeat pop songs, but I also really like this relatively slower song he dropped this week.

Pendulum: Harry Hudson

Joyride: SONIA

Put Me Back Together: Caitlyn Smith

Fuck No (feat. Brasstracks & PholiSofie): 99 Neighbors

In My Arms: (Sandy) Alex G

Call Me Lover: Sam Fender

ROCK ON

Closer To The Sky: The Glorious Sons

Smile For The Camera: UPSAHL

POP AND BOPS

Black & Blue: Nina Nesbitt

Don’t Say: Robinson

Genetics: Meghan Trainor

Graveyard: Halsey

Don’t Call Me Angel: Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Lana Del Ray

A lot of people were hating on this song from this famous trio, but it is the perfect soundtrack song for the upcoming Charlie’s Angels movie.

Mother: Charlie Puth

Mover Awayer: Hobo Johnson

Somebody To Love: OneRepublic

OneRepublic really killed it with this song.

Sorry: SAINT PHNX

Sleeping Next To You: ayokay

I’ve been obsessed with ayokay ever since I heard his song “Move On” and this song is the perfect vibe.

Kintsugi: Gabrielle Aplin

In “Kintsugi,” Aplin creates a comparison between the Japanese art of putting broken pottery back together using gold or silver powder mixed with lacquer and being “put back together” while in a relationship.

Boys Will Be Boys: bülow

RAP SNAP CRACKLE POP

ADHD: Joyner Lucas

A.M.: Lonr.

Behind Barz – Bonus: Drake

Big Girls: Masego

dork: Sueco the Child

Gift and a Curse (feat, Yung Pinch): Skizzy Mars

Miami: Kid Ink

Malice: Travis Thompson

RAVE SZN

Drop It: Tujamo, Lukas Vane

This song goes HARD. Big music festival vibes for sure.

Mr. Navigator: Armin van Burren, Tempo Giusto

Rather Be Alone: Robin Schulz, Nick Martin, Sam Martin

Too Good: Breathe Carolina

And that’s it! Honestly I didn’t have too much to say about most of these songs other than you have to listen to them to really understand why I put them on this playlist. Plus I’ve been writing a lot for a bunch of my other classes and feel a bit burnt out at the moment when it comes to coming up with descriptions. But at least the playlist flows nicely…right?
