new music friday vol. 16

I bet you didn’t think you’d be seeing one of these again! After a couple months of dealing with a chaotic end of my semester and both my phone AND laptop keyboard breaking, I have made my triumphant return as the prodigal playlist creator to bring you the best of the songs that were released this past week.

If you’re unfamiliar with my new music friday posts or you’ve simply forgotten because of my lack of consistency, here’s a list of new songs I’ve compiled with the occasional commentary on my extra favorite ones with an accompanying playlist that you can find here. Feel free to read along while you listen or just take my word for it and dive in yourself to find some new music! (It’s best to listen to the playlist in order if possible because I put some effort into the flow from one song to the next!)

ROCK ON

Alive: Daughtry

Looking for the next great addition to your running playlist or the next song to feel nauseas to while on the treadmill? Look no further! The drums in this song are enough to get your heart pumping and the lyrics are perfect motivation to keep at it.

this guitar’s gonna kill me: Olivver the Kid, Armors, Lostboycrow

POP N BOPS

The Future’s Just So Clear: Grandma

The newest addition to my infamous “surf n skate” playlist, this song is guaranteed to put you in a good mood with all the positive vibes.

blue: keshi

The guitar + keshi’s voice? *chef’s kiss*

City of Angels: Cub Sport

INDIE & CHILL

Mean It – stripped: Lauv, LANY

Two of my favorite artists came together to create and release “Mean It” a couple of weeks ago on Lauv’s album. They released the masterpiece that is the stripped version this morning and their voices together might be the best thing your ears witness this Friday.

huge mood: slchld

I’m obsessed with the aesthetics and cover art of slchld’s brand and with the cute and supportive vibes of this song.

Like You: Baker Grace

I Can’t Believe I Had You: Emmit Fenn

Racing Stripes: Bombay Bicycle Club

“Racing Stripes” is so calm and beautiful. It reminds me of a calm winter’s night with quiet snowfall and absolutely no one around.

Revolving Door: DYSN

My Dream Girl Is My Ex Now: Sam Setton

SAY IT BACK: Ross Harris

With Ross Harris’s vocals and honest lyrics accompanied by simple piano, you can feel his every emotion in “SAY IT BACK.”

Super Sad Always: Melanie Faye

Never Leave You: WATTS

ELECTRO DANCE + RAVE SZN

The Seed EP: Steve Void – Drunken Truth, Closure, Without You, Ain’t Got You

Not only am I obsessed with the watermelon theme of his new EP but I’m also obsessed with the numerous hits Steve Void has brought to the table with The Seed. Each and every song is a masterpiece so I just had to include them all in this week’s playlist.

caroline: YAS, taylor from earth

Dive: Hot Shade, Mike Perry, Chris James

All This Lovin: Vlade Kay, DJ Snake

I LOVE this song. I could 100% see myself head banging at a music festival to this song.

Love Is Not Enough: GATTÜSO, Salem

RAP SNAP CRACKLE POP

JUST ME: KILLBOY

Fresh N Clean: Fetty Wap

Guaranteed to boost your self confidence and be stuck in your head for the rest of they day/week.

Uncle Iroh: tobi lou

Berlin: Kota the Friend

While this song may only be a minute and a half long, its chill beat and smooth verses make it a minute and a half well spent.

I Don’t Know: Cam’ron, Wale

FCUKIZYOUDOIN: Kid Ink

Goin Broke: Dee Watkins

Hell Bound – Ad 01: Vince Staples

Hop Off A Jet (feat. Travis Scott): Young Thug, Travis Scott

And that’s it! This playlist is definitely on the shorter side because not many songs were released this week after all of thus huge releases last week but I made sure to include all of my favorites and not hold back! Again, you can find the accompanying playlist HERE!
