new music friday vol. 34

Hello! Happy Friday! Welcome back to another New Music Friday where I make a list of my favorite songs that were released each week with an accompanying Spotify playlist. This week we were blessed with a whole new surprise album by Taylor Swift that is magical in all ways. I listened to it at 3 a.m. and it’s all I wanted to listen to on repeat while frolicking in a forest so bear with me if there aren’t as many comments on the other songs. MisterWives released a new album titled SUPERBLOOM as well and I was instantly obsessed.

But I’ll keep this intro short and sweet. Let’s get into it!

INDIE & CHILL

blind: ROLE MODEL

Hands down the best song ROLE MODEL has ever released. You can’t argue with me. A whole freaking bop. But indie, ya know?

supercuts: Jeremey Zucker

“supercuts” is an upbeat tune combined with lyrics that speak of Zucker’s fear, “of being complacent and ending up where you started, which for [him] was a small town in the suburbs of New Jersey.” Just your typical Jeremey Zucker tune that we know and love.

In My Room: hbd – Til We Die, Pretty Tough, Gameboy

I was introduced to hbd through none other than Tristen Ikaika himself and I’m very glad I was. Her new EP has the perfect mixture of upbeat happy tunes to slow beats to keep you vibing like it’s your birthday.

Don’t Turn Around: Biig Piig

LIKE NIRVANA: Cub Sport – Nirvana, 18, Best Friend, Be Your Angel,

Do you need music to listen to while staring at the ceiling at 3 a.m.? Do you need music to put in the background of a video of you running in slow mo through tall grass with mountains in the background (I recommend “18”)? Or are you a more upbeat end of the year friends tackling each other vibe (I recommend “Best Friend”)? Check out Cub Sport’s new album. A masterpiece and a vibe.

crowd: Silver Sphere

“crowd” is Silver Sphere’s first single off of her new All My Boyfriends EP. The lyrics are highly relatable and her voice is as beautiful as usual. A must listen from this week’s releases.

Too Sensitive: Sean Kennedy

Allergy Season: eisenach

I do be having allergies, but I also do be having much love for eisenach’s new song! The vibes if this are immaculate and therefore it receives a spot on my “surf n skate” playlist.

folklore: Taylor Swift – the 1, cardigan, the last great american dynasty, exile ft. Bon Iver, my tears ricochet, august, illicit affairs, invisible string, mad woman, epiphany, betty

Taylor really dropped this whole new era on us like a bomb and told us to drop everything and get ready. But we weren’t ready. The whole album is a masterpiece top to bottom. I’m obsessed with the visuals chosen for this era with the black and white and the woods. While a foggy forest would normally terrify me because who know’s what’s lurking in there, Swift’s voice and the relaxed yet intentional sounds in each song brings a feeling of tranquility. Each song tells also tells its own story that encapsulates the listener and conjures a unique scene in their mind. Plus we all know how much Miss. Swift loves songs that begin slow and then swell with emotion. But I don’t need to tell you to listen to this album because chances are you probably already have. But if not, please do.

Misinterpretations: Giant Rocks

One Minute: Ryann

These lyrics hit me like a punch in the gut. Ryann has created a beautiful song from a post break up point of view talking about the feeling when you wake up thinking someone else is still with you and then realizing they’re not.

Cabin Fever: Jaden

All the chill vibes.

been thinking: mike.

Big Wheel: Samia

Never Had: Forrest.

Forrest from Surfaces comes to us with this new chill bop and we are grateful.

Bad Vacation: Liza Anne – I Shouldn’t Ghost My Therapist, Desire

I’m obsessed with the track name “I Shouldn’t Ghost My Therapist” on Liza Anne’s new album, Bad Vacation. It’s filled with beachy rock and indie songs that are perfect to fix any relatable bad vacation.

Get What You Need: Joshua Speers

One More Weekend: Maude Latour

An indie pop bop.

ROCK ON

Who Do You Think You’re Talking To?: Dawes

All Distortions Are Intentional: Neck Deep – Telling Stories

All Of Me (with Travis Barker): The Score, Travis Barker

POP AND BOPS

SUPERBLOOM: MisterWives – the end, ghost, whywhywhy, SUPERBLOOM

MisterWives’ new album SUPERBLOOM is fill of upbeat Indie Pop tracks that’ll instantly put you in a good mood. Perfect for a morning playlist or a running playlist to make it more bearable. Every song is a banger!

Save Myself: Ashe

I could see myself scream-singing this song at the top of my voice home alone using my hair brush as a microphone.

Holiday: Little Mix

This song was worth the endless promo I endured on social media hyping it up.

Disrespectful: Malia Civetz

Little More Love: Evie Irie

I 100% agree with this upbeat pop song and its lyrics sung by Irie’s powerful voice.

Nights: Neon Trees

This song is one of my top favorites from this week for sure.

NIGHTRIDER: Arizona Zervas

Heartbreak in the Hills EP: Conor Matthews – Way Out, Drunk

This whole EP is a bop!

Nobody’s Love: Maroon 5

Let Me Move You: Sabrina Carpenter

For a song made for a Netflix film, I’m a huge fan of this bop.

HELP: Morgan Saint – KEEP ON HANGING ON

Ferris Wheel: Sylvan Esso

Fall Apart: merci, mercy

Slow Motion: Charlotte Lawrence

NEVERMIND: HRVY

ELECTRO DANCE + RAVE SZN

Say My Name: Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Regard

Do you need a new song to add to your boat day or pool party playlist? This song will have you and your friends singing along and bopping your head along to the beat.

2AM (feat. Carla Monroe): MK, Carla Monroe

Hurting on Purpose (feat. K. Flay): Whethan, K.Flay

RAP SNAP CRACKLE POP

Mood (feat. Iann Dior): 24kGoldn, iann dior

This song is too catchy for its own good.

WRONG (feat. Lil Mosey): The Kid LAROI, Lil Mosey

Lost In Time: Wifisfuneral, Coi Leray

Second Wind: Healy

The ultimate chill rap vibe.

YEE HAW

Heaven Down Here: Mickey Guyton

A current coronavirus and quarantine vibe.

Happy Anywhere (feat. Gwen Stefani): Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani

The way their voices always sound perfect together is magical.

And that’s it! I hope you enjoy and find some of your new favorite songs and artists from this playlist because I know I have. Plus I hope you discover some tunes to fuel your quarantine activities! And wear your freaking mask over your nose!
