TREASVRE blends elements of post-rock and shoegaze with rich synth textures, heavy guitar riffs, and electronic rhythms. This hidden gem from the San Francisco Bay Area has released two EPs recently that perfectly encapsulate their atmospheric rock sound.
The first, released in July, featured the tracks “Devils” and “Echoes.” While these songs were extremely pertinent when they were first released, they continue to remain relevant as they wrestle with the themes found in social isolation.
According to TREASVRE, “Devils/Echoes EP grapples with the challenge of change in uncertain times. We explore dark themes of isolation and escapism, but ultimately these songs are about finding the silver lining and pushing past your limits to discover what you’re capable of.“
With driving guitars, saturated synths and groovy rhythms, the Devils/Echoes EP will inspire you to break free from loneliness and self doubt this quarantine.
The second EP, released in September, speaks of relationships and opening yourself up to fulfilling connections in your life. Too Late/One of Us EP is “an exploration of pushing the boundaries of our relationships — for better or for worse,” according to TREASVRE on Instagram.
“There are so many ways to love and be loved, and it can be a challenge to figure out what works both individually and romantically. We’ve discovered that you really have to trust yourself to seek out the relationships that are right for you.”
– TREASVRE
The two songs featured on the second EP, “Too Late” and “One of Us, display the full range of trust in a relationship. “Too Late” details the story of broken trust and unfulfilled promises, while “One of Us” speaks of cultivating deep trust in ourselves and our relationships.
TREASVRE aimed to call attention to this range of trust in their newest EP saying, “We really wanted to highlight the journey of self-doubt into self-affirmation as we seek out fulfilling connections with others.”
While my personal favorite is “One of Us,” the perfect contrast between the two themes creates a paired listening experience that makes it impossible to separate the two.
Perfect for fans of M83, Mew and Autolux, this band of five is only just beginning to make their mark in the atmospheric rock scene. These two EPs are the first two in a series of double singles to be released. Be sure to follow them on Spotify and Instagram to be kept up to date on any new releases or live stream shows from TREASVRE.
