Hello and happy Sunday! This week’s blog post + playlist includes a variety of tracks from many different projects that were released this past week. From Sasha Sloan to Nightly to Justin Bieber to The Vamps, CXLOE, Astrid S and more, there’s something for everyone. Also this post is a short and simple one because I know we’re all gearing up for the next week.
So sit back and enjoy this handpicked and curated playlist available HERE on Spotify full of new music to help you enter the week feeling energized and in the loop. If you don’t use Spotify, be sure to check out my favorite tracks (designated with an asterisk *) on whatever platform you prefer.
INDIE & CHILL
*Only Child: Sasha Sloan – Matter To You, Only Child, House With No Mirrors, Lie, Someone You Hate, Until It Happens To You
With her debut album, Sasha Sloan flexes her powerful songwriting skills with songs that are beautiful, honest and real. Despite sounding sonically sad or beginning pessimistically, many of these songs are relatable and hopeful love songs with her introspective lyrics.
*afterthoughts: renforshort
Lonely (with benny blanco): Justin Bieber, benny blanco
I Should Probably Go To Bed – Acoustic: Dan + Shay
Arguably better than the original, this stripped and acoustic version will simply put you in your feels without all the harmonies.
*Sharpener: Cavetown
Lemon [feat. Sharon Van Etten]: Local Natives, Sharon Van Etten
Crybaby: Dreamer Boy
All That (with Channel Tres): Emotional Oranges, Channel Tres
POP AND BOPS
*Fake: Lauv, Conan Gray
*night, love you: Nightly – the car, you should probably just hang up, time online, summer, the movies
Nightly’s new debut album has made my entire October. Plus the interludes sprinkled in between set the tone for the next song and vibe of the whole album. With a smooth blend of Indie Pop and Pop, Nightly makes music perfect for driving with the volume all the way up and the windows down. This makes many of these tracks the perfect addition to our “taco bell at 1:39 am” playlist full of songs that are perfect to play while driving around at night with that nostalgic invincible teenager feeling.
*Help (feat. Rence): Sarah Barrios, Rence
The perfect addition to my upbeat and self help “is this? therapy?” playlist.
Cherry Blossom: The Vamps – Glory Days, Better, Married in Vegas, Part Of Me
This new album saved my 2020 so far. Every song is so good.
*Tequila & Lemonade: merci, mercy
Happiness: Little Mix
Heavy, Pt. 1: CXLOE – 12 Steps, Plans
*Only Time Makes It Human: King Princess
Leave It Beautiful: Astrid S – Airpods
Change: TSHA, Gabrielle Aplin
ELECTRO DANCE + RAVE SZN
*West Coast (feat. Quinn XCII): DVBBS, Quinn XCII
Don’t Let Me Down – Poolside Remix: Milky Chance, Jack Johnson
Self Care (with COIN): Louis The Child, COIN
Spa: Icona Pop, Sofi Tukker
RAP SNAP CRACKLE POP
BET Uncut (feat. Chance the Rapper & Smino): MadeinTYO, Chance the Rapper, Smino
R&viBe
Want U Around (feat. Ruel): Omar Apollo, Ruel
Like I Feel (feat. Mereba): Xavier Omär, Mereba
*All About You: Leon Bridges, Lucky Daye
A match made in heaven.
PSSY PWR: Jacquie, Jean Deaux
